چکیده

Nonlinear optical absorption effect in KDP and 70%-DKDP crystals, which were grown by the conventional temperature cooling method, was systematically studied using picosecond pulse laser excitation. Using open aperture Z-scan measurements, the dependence of nonlinear absorption effect on sample orientations (I, II, and z) as well as laser intensity was systematically measured at λ = 1064 and 532 nm. According to the experimental results, the nonlinear absorption effect at λ = 532 nm was confirmed, while at λ = 1064 nm no nonlinear absorption was observed for KDP and 70%-DKDP crystals. In addition, the optical absorption along Iand II-type affected by laser intensity was larger than that along the z-direction. The important nonlinear absorption coefficients β and χ I (esu) measured along different orientations were exhibited in detail at wavelengths of 1064 nm and 532 nm. The results indicate that nonlinear absorption coefficients increase first and then decrease with the increment of laser intensity for KDP and 70%-DKDP crystals.

Investigation of the electronic and physical properties of defect structures responsible for laser-induced damage in DKDP crystals.

Laser-induced damage at near operational laser excitation conditions can limit the performance of potassium dihydrogen phosphate (KH(2)PO(4), or KDP) and its deuterated analog (DKDP) which are currently the only nonlinear optical materials suitable for use in large-aperture laser systems. This process has been attributed to pre-existing damage precursors that were incorporated or formed during ...

A multi-dimensional investigation of laser conditioning in KDP and DKDP crystals

We present a multi-parametric experimental investigation of laser conditioning efficiency and behavior in KDP and DKDP crystals as a function of laser wavelength, fluence, number of pulses, and conditioning protocol. Our results expose complex behaviors associated with damage initiation and conditioning at different wavelengths that provide a major step towards revealing the underlying physics....

Molecular dynamics simulation of the soft mode for hydrogen-bonded ferroelectrics

Numerical simulations of dipole dynamics have been studied by employing a recently proposed modified strong dipole proton coupling ~MSDPC! model of the phase transition in the hydrogen-bonded type of ferroelectrics. The obtained results in the form of the spectral density of the polarization fluctuation along the polar axis and along the lateral direction are simulated and correlated with known...

بررسی رشد بلور KDP تحت تأثیر یون‌های فلزی به ویژه +3Al

Effect of Al3+ ions on the optical quality, growth rate, shape, and structure of potassium dihydrogen phosphate (KDP) crystal was investigated. Growth method was based on the “point seed” method in a solution with optimum concentration, following spontaneous growth at room temperature. FTIR spectrum showed neutralization of O-H group in KDP crystal by Al3+ ions. UV-Visible spectrum of the cryst...

Non-critical phase-matching fourth harmonic generation of a 1053-nm laser in an ADP crystal

In current inertial confinement fusion (ICF) facilities, KDP and DKDP crystals are the second harmonic generation (SHG) and third harmonic generation (THG) materials for the Nd:glass laser (1053 nm). Based on the trend for the development of short wavelengths for ICF driving lasers, technical solutions for fourth harmonic generation (FHG) will undoubtedly attract more and more attention. In thi...
